New York Mets vs. Minnesota Twins (Lugo vs. Santana) |
New York Mets (+1.5 Runs) 1.29 (Bet365.com) |
The Mets and Twins will play Game 2 of their 3-three-game Interleague series tonight. New York will send Seth Lugo to the mound, the rookie right-hander who makes his 6-sixth Major League start against the Twins at Citi Field. Lugo (4-2, 2.40 ERA) has gone 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA in his first 5-five starts, [2-1 at home with 2.31 ERA] including great wins over the Cardinals and Nationals. He pitched well in Sunday's win over the Braves, allowing just 2-two runs on 6-six hits over 7-seven innings. The Mets' pitcher is matched up in tonight's start against Twins pitcher Ervin Santana [7-10, 3.53 ERA]. Santana is 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 5-five career starts against the Mets, and he has a 2.70 ERA in three career starts at Citi Field. With that said, I am picking the Mets with the spread of (+1.5) runs.
UPDATE September 18, 2016 - FINAL Result: New York Mets 3-2 Minnesota Twins. Curtis Granderson hit 2 home runs to both tie and win the game [homered (355 ft.) to deep right] in extra innings on Saturday night, giving the Mets a 3-2, 12-inning victory over the Twins at Citi Field in a Game 2 of the series. Yoenis Cespedes tied the game in the eighth inning with an RBI single to center. Twins starting pitcher Ervin Santana pitched 7-seven scoreless innings of 4-four-hit ball. He struck out 9-nine and left the game with a lead 1-0, but Mets ultimately recovered and won the game in style. Mets' starter Seth Lugo pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, and 1 home run, keeping very low ERA of 2.35. With this critical win, the New York Mets moved into a tie with the San Francisco Giants [who lost 2-3 from the Cardinals] for the first National League Wild Card spot.
