Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles (Pomeranz vs. Bundy) |
Boston Red Sox (+1.5) 1.25 (Bet365.com) |
Boston faces Baltimore in the 2nd game of their 3-three-game series at Fenway Park on Tuesday. Boston left-hander Drew Pomeranz returns to the mound after 7-seven days of rest, and he will pitch against Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy. Pomeranz took another surprising loss on Sep 5 against the Padres, allowing 2-two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. The lefty has given up 2-two earned runs or fewer in 6-six of his last 7-seven starts. He has 3-three career appearances against the Orioles, all in relief. He's allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings and his record against Baltimore is 0-1 with solid 1.93 ERA. It's time for Pomeranz to finally win a game for the Red Sox. Dylan Bundy had a jolty start on Thursday against Tampa Bay. He allowed 5-five runs on 7-seven hits in 3 2/3 innings for NO-decision. Bundy has faced the Red Sox 4-four times (one start) this season. In his last outing against Boston on August 17, he allowed 5-five runs on 9-nine hits in 4 1/3 innings, and took a loss. His record in away games played this year is 4-3 with 5.23 ERA. With that said, I am picking the Boston Red Sox with the spread of (+1.5) runs.
UPDATE September 14, 2016 - FINAL Result: Boston Red Sox 3-6 Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore Orioles bounced right back after losing Game 1 of the series for a critical 6-3 victory over the Red Sox that got them back into a tie for the top American League Wild Card spot. O's, who recorded a 3-three-run blast by J.J. Hardy and a 2-two-run shot from Nolan Reimold en route to a five-run second inning, slimmed their deficit in the AL East to the Red Sox to two games. Jonathan Schoop provided an insurance solo HR that soared over everything in the 9th inning. O's starter Dylan Bundy held the Red Sox to just six hits and three runs over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. It was a tough night for Boston starter Drew Pomeranz, who had just 6-six outs and was removed one batter into the third after giving up 4 hits and 5 runs. He still does not have a "W" recorded for the Red Sox. Boston's record after the loss is 81-63.
