New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Colón vs. Morgan) |
New York Mets (+1.5 Runs) 1.27 (Bet365.com) |
New York Mets enter the most important phase of the regular season. With less than 40 games to play, the team is 3 1/2 games behind the Cardinals for the second Playoff spot. The good news for the Mets: the team just defeated the Cardinals 2:1 in their 3-game series. Mets shall be on a roll going forward in their series vs. Philadelphia Phillies. Bartolo Colón will be the starting pitcher for New York. Colón scattered nine hits and two runs over 6 1/3 innings Saturday in a win over the Giants. His career against the Phillies is 9-5 with 3.31 ERA. Adam Morgan will start for Philadelphia. He allowed one run over six-plus innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Friday. His record for the year is terrible: 1-7 with 6.21 ERA. With that, I am picking the New York Mets with a spread of (+1.5) Runs. For more aggressive players, a bet on the Money Line (ML) at 1.57 is also a good choice.
UPDATE August 27, 2016 - FINAL Result: New York Mets 9-4 Philadelphia Phillies. Flores hit a Grand Slam as Mets defeated the Phillies: Wilmer Flores hit his third career grand slam, Asdrubal Cabrera and Jose Reyes combined for three additional homers and Bartolo Colón kept stable pitches on the mound, leading the Mets to a 9-4 win over the Phillies at Citi Field. Colón delivered a dual-threat performance on the mound and at the plate that helped lift the club to its 5th win in its last 6 games. Unfortunately, the Mets remained 3 1/2 games behind the Cardinals [who also won] in the NL Wild Card race.
