Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays (Happ vs. Archer) |
Toronto Blue Jays (+1.5 Runs) 1.32 (Bet365.com) |
Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays will face off on Sunday at Tropicana Field in the series finale between the two, as the Rays are looking for a 3-three-game sweep. Tampa surprisingly won the first two games of the series, which caused Toronto to lose its 2-game lead over Boston for the 1st place in the AL East Division. The pitcher with the most losses in baseball, Archer (Tampa Bay), will go up against the one with the second-most wins - J.A. Happ (Toronto). Happ notched a quality start in taking a no-decision Tuesday, yielding three runs over 6 1/3 frames in a loss to the Orioles. He served up a pair of home runs in the fifth inning. Happ's 17 wins are one shy of the Major League lead, held by Boston's Porcello. He's never had more than 12 wins a season, and that was in 2009. Happ allowed 11 runs over his last three starts after giving up just two total runs over the four starts before that. However, he is 7-2 in away games this season with 3.39 ERA, thus Toronto has a good chance to stop the losing streak right here. Archer is trying to avoid becoming the first Rays starter since Tanyon Sturtze to lose 18 games [he has already 17 losses]. He has a 3.25 career ERA against Toronto. With that, I take Toronto Blue Jays with a spread of (+1.5) runs; a bet on the Money Line (ML) at 1.83 is also a good choice [the logical one].
UPDATE September 05, 2016 - FINAL Result: Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 Tampa Bay Rays. Toronto won Game 3 of the series as I expected: Blue Jays were on the verge of being swept by Tampa Bay until the club rallied for two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to steal a victory away from the Rays. Russell Martin hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the eighth and second baseman Devon Travis picked up a key two-run single as Toronto pulled out a 5-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win allowed the Blue Jays to avoid losing 3 games in a row for the first time since June 21.
