San Antonio Spurs - Golden State Warriors - NBA

The NBA new season 2016-17 is finally here:  The San Antonio Spurs start their NBA journey Tuesday night on the road against Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors. San Anton are without Timmy; Paul Gasol cannot repeat mechanically Duncan's defensive aptitude, but he was an All-Star, and his offense should help offset what is lost on the other side. The Spurs were very good 3-pt shooting team last year at 37.5 %, 2nd only to the Warriors, but they have to do better this year, if they want to stay competitive. Danny Green is sidelined for up to 3 weeks due to a left quad strain - the Spurs' defense becomes a question mark, unless others pick up the slack. If there is a weakness in the Golden State team, it is in the post.  The Warriors traded center Andrew Bogut to the Dallas Mavericks this summer to sign Durant.  So, they lost defensive capabilities at the post. Therefore, I expect the Spurs to use Gasol and Aldridge at the post a lot tonight. When you look at the odds for the game, it is clear Las Vegas is picking Golden State to win between 10-13 points, as the odds for that exact winning margin are the lowest: 5.50. With that, I pick San Antonio with the Option "Alternative Point Spread": Spurs (+16.0 pts.).

UPDATE October 26, 2016 - FINAL Result: San Antonio Spurs  129-100  Golden State Warriors.  The Spurs defeated the Warriors in convincing fashion.  They've controlled Golden State for 48 mins., and came away with a 129-100 win at Oracle Arena.  Kawhi Leonard recorded a career-high 35 points on 10-of-21 shooting, adding 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists, while LaMarcus Aldridge finished with his first double-double of the season (26 pts. and 14 rbs.). The Spurs won the boards, 54-35, including 20 off.  rebounds, 2nd chance points, 24-4, and led by as many as 20 points, before winning by 29.
